Melt Cosmetics Slate & Steel Gel Liners Reviews & Swatches – OWNSKIN

Slate

Melt Cosmetics Slate Gel Liner ($19.00 for 0.088 oz.) is a deep blue with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. The texture was very smooth and fluid, moderately dense but pigmented as it applied to bare skin with an angled brush or with a flat brush. This particular shade took noticeably longer to dry down and turn matte, so it was best applied in a thinner, more sparing layer and then built up if necessary.

I felt like it was pigmented enough where this still yielded pretty opaque results, but it was harder to use as a cream eyeshadow and easier as strictly an eyeliner–other shades in the range have been more versatile. Once it dried down, it stayed in place for over 10 hours without fading/thinning.

Steel

Melt Cosmetics Steel Gel Liner ($19.00 for 0.088 oz.) is a medium-dark blue with subtle, cool undertones and flecks of lighter blue and minty green sparkle throughout. It had mostly opaque coverage in a single layer that applied evenly and smoothly without dragging, though I felt like the edge tended to look a little ragged if I wasn’t careful.

It was almost like the sparkles made it less smooth in application compared to the matte version of the formula. The eyeliner lasted well for 10 hours without fading and just had a smidgen of fallout/migration from a few sparkles.
