LORAC Noir PRO Palette Review & Swatches – OWNSKIN

Noir

LORAC Noir Pro Palette (2020) ($35.00 for 0.56 oz.) includes 18 eyeshadows with six mattes and 12 shimmery shades. The majority of the eyeshadows had semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation, were blendable, and lasted between seven and eight hours. The mattes tended to be more buildable and had some fallout due to being very soft, though they were very finely-milled and more substantial than some of the later Pro releases (like the Megas). Many of the shimmers were particularly nice to use, though, as they were pigmented, creamy, and had great adhesion that was flattering on the skin.

Ecru

Ecru is a very light yellowish beige with a satin finish. It had barely-there, ultra-fine pearl woven throughout the eyeshadow, but the lightly powdery texture came through more noticeably on my skin and looked less shimmery in action. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation that wore well for seven hours on me.

In 2020, the brand reformulated their PRO eyeshadows and released new palettes (and new shades, however new-new they might be). The formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” that “last[s] without creasing” and “blend[s] effortlessly.” Each eyeshadow can also be removed from its respective palette–there’s an included tool to do so–to rearrange the palette or depot (nice touch!).

The mattes felt less thin and were not quite as dry as the prior formula–a bit silkier–though the matte eyeshadows are still lightly to moderately powdery with light fallout but are blendable. I think it’s a formula more suitable to someone who tends to prefer buildable coverage and a little more muted color.

The shimmers were slightly creamier, smooth, and blendable with higher color coverage that had good adherence to bare skin. They seemed a little thicker than the prior formula, which I think gave them better hold.

For the most part, they were easy to use with most shades lasting between seven and eight hours, which is average, so the longevity wasn’t any better/worse than most eyeshadows on the market (including the prior formula).

Soft Taupe

Soft Taupe is a light brown with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque color payoff that was buildable to mostly opaque coverage. The texture was soft, smooth, and blendable but somewhat powdery, so there was a bit of excess product kicked up in the pan. The powder was so finely-milled that it didn’t seem to yield visible fallout but I could see powder fly away in the air as I applied and blended it out. The color stayed on decently for seven and a half hours before fading a bit.

Sable

Sable is a light-medium brown with subtle, warmer undertones and a matte finish. It had medium, buildable pigmentation with a soft, blendable consistency that felt silky-smooth but was on the more powdery side. I’d recommend using this shade with an eyeshadow primer for full coverage, though. It lasted well for seven and a half hours before fading visibly.

Burgundy

Burgundy is a medium-dark plum with strong, warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture was smooth, silky, and substantial enough to not be prone to fallout but still retained its blendability. It had opaque color coverage that applied well to bare skin and wore nicely for eight hours on me.

Smoke

Smoke is a medium-dark brown with muted, warm olive undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow had nearly opaque color coverage in a single layer, which applied evenly to bare skin and blended out nicely. The texture was soft, silky, and smooth with just a light powderiness to it. It stayed on well for seven and a half hours before fading visibly.

Ink

Ink is a medium-dark black with neutral undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had opaque pigmentation that applied well to bare skin and diffused readily along the edges without losing its intensity. The texture was silky, smooth, and not too powdery to work with. This shade lasted well for seven and a half hours before fading noticeably.

White Diamond

White Diamond has a transparent base with flecks of larger, white sparkle. The texture was lightly emollient, thin but had decent adhesion for as chocked-full of sparkle as it was. This shade was designed to be sheer, so the sheerness was as anticipated. It applied evenly and had good dispersion of the sparkle. It had some fallout over the eight hours it wore for.

Whisper

Whisper is a very light peach with moderate, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had opaque color payoff but the consistency was thicker and more prone to emphasizing skin texture, so I found it actually applied better with a fingertip or a dampened brush just to smooth out the powder better. This shade stayed on nicely for eight hours before fading a bit.

Primrose

Primrose is a very light copper with strong, warm undertones and a bright, metallic finish. It had rich pigmentation that adhered evenly to bare skin and blended out well along the edges without losing its intensity. The texture was smooth, lightly creamy without being too dense or too firmly-pressed into the pan. It lasted well for eight hours on me before fading visibly.

Lust

Lust is a light, golden bronze with strong, warm undertones and an intense, shiny and metallic finish. The texture was smooth, moderately dense but not overly thick, and had a creaminess to it that felt richer and more luxe than the original formula ever did. It had rich pigmentation that wore well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Silver Moon

Silver Moon is a light taupe with subtle, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had opaque color coverage that applied evenly to bare skin and blended out nicely along the edges. The texture was lightly creamy, smooth, and easy to pick up with a dry brush. The eyeshadow showed signs of fading after eight hours of wear.

Rendezvous

Rendezvous is a darker gold with moderate, warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. The texture was soft, more loosely-pressed compared to most shimmers in the palette, but it had opaque color coverage that applied fairly well. There was a little bit of fallout during the initial application, but it stayed on nicely for eight hours before fading visibly and didn’t seem to have continuous fallout over time.

Stardust

Stardust is a light-medium brown with moderate, warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. The eyeshadow had opaque color coverage in a single layer, which had good adhesion to bare skin and blended out well along the edges, though there was a bit of fallout during blending. The texture was lightly creamy, smooth, and had some slip, which helped the smaller sparkles bind with the base color. It wore well for eight hours before showing signs of fading.

Dahlia

Dahlia is a light-medium, golden bronze with strong, warm undertones and a metallic finish. The consistency was smooth, lightly creamy without being too dense and applied beautifully to bare skin. This shade lasted well for eight hours before fading a bit.

Whiskey

Whiskey is a rich, golden bronze with strong, warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It was intensely pigmented with a creamy, smooth consistency that wasn’t too thick or too thin, so it had great adhesion to bare skin and looked almost “melted” and one with my skin. There were signs of fading present after eight hours of wear.

Onyx

Onyx is a darker, plummy brown with subtle, warm undertones and a lightly metallic sheen. The eyeshadow was richly pigmented with a smooth, lightly creamy texture that was blendable and a cinch to work with. It started to look a little faded after eight hours of wear.

Majestic

Majestic is a muted, medium-dark plum with subtle, warm brown undertones and flecks of silver sparkle. The texture was lightly emollient, but it ended up looking and feeling a little drier in practice. It had more semi-opaque coverage that was better applied with a fingertip or a dampened brush. It wore decently for seven and a half hours but had light fallout over time.

Black Violet

Black Violet is a darker, purple-plum with warmer, brown undertones and a cooler overtone paired with a satin sheen. It had rich color coverage paired with a soft, smooth consistency that was a little thinner than other shades but had good adhesion and blended out well. This shade stayed on well for eight hours before fading a bit.

Ecru is a Continue Reading… Temptalia
