When Lauren Hutton spills about her favorite skin-care products, there’s nothing else to do but add it to the running list of products we need. With a complexion that looks as great as hers at the age of 70, we must know everything. In a recent interview with Vogue, our 2019 cover star dished on all things skin care, how she’s been staying fit in “The Q,” and her strict zero-mixing diet.
“I’ve always been a skin-care minimalist,” the American Horror Story star tells Vogue. “I used soap and water for years and years. That was about the main thing that I would do, and it would be a big deal if I got into cleansers and things.” But, now that she’s 70, Hutton explains that there is one major skin-care mistake she made for far too long: skipping SPF. “I never wore a hat or that lotion you put on to keep the sun from coming in, so I now have parchment skin,” she explains.
While diminishing years of sun damage is a challenge, Hutton is doing what she can to make up for lost time. Included in her now vigorous skin-care routine is StriVectin S.T.A.R Light Retinol ($99), which she applies every night before bed. With Hutton’s comedy-driven personality, we didn’t know she could be strict until we read about her diet. According to Vogue, the actress follows a zero-mixing diet: “I try not to mix carbohydrates and proteins. I eat meat with vegetables or carbs with vegetables. I don’t mix the two. For some reason that seems to work. When I mix them I start putting on weight immediately. It’s the exact opposite of what we’re taught,” she says. Also included in the meal plan is a solid eight glasses of water per day.
In terms of exercise, Hutton does an hour of Pilates every day and tries to go for walks on the regular, but her biggest beauty secret of all is as simple as it gets: love. “Try to find someone you love, even if it’s a kid. Just love as many people as you can… It’s really nice to roll around with somebody and feel skin. I’m saying all these things I shouldn’t be saying!”
