ColourPop Stone Cold Fox Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches – OWNSKIN

Stone Cold Fox

Colour Pop Stone Cold Fox 30-Pan Shadow Palette ($34.00 for 0.92 oz.) is a new, permanent (as permanent as something can be with ColourPop, ha, ha, ha) that includes 30 shades across a mix of matte and shimmer finishes. The quality was decent overall with some matte eyeshadows being more powdery and needing to be built up (or having fallout), while the shimmers were a little softer but were usually fine to work with.

I would recommend using an eyeshadow primer, which helped to minimize some of the issues across the board but also helped prevent some shades from looking muddy. The types of tones in the palette can have a tendency to muddy quickly if using too many together as they are desaturated.

So Fine (Stone Cold Fox)

So Fine (Stone Cold Fox) is a light pink with subtle, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. The texture was more loosely-pressed, so there was a bit of fallout during application, but it had opaque color coverage that was blendable. It wore well for seven and a half hours before fading noticeably.

$4.50/0.05 oz. – $90.00 Per Ounce

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.

The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

Trip

Trip is a light beige with subtle, warmer undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow had a more powdery consistency that had a fair amount of fallout/flyaway product, so it worked better applied initially if it was going to be above anything else (like on the brow bone). It had mostly opaque color coverage, though. It stayed on well for seven hours before fading visibly.

Lux

Lux is a pale white with warmer undertones and a matte finish. The texture was firmer and thinner, which made it harder to apply evenly in a single layer. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation that lasted nicely for seven hours before fading noticeably.

Dreamful is a bright white with cooler undertones and a matte finish. The consistency was somewhat powdery, but it was more substantial and velvety, which gave it better adhesion to bare skin. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation that wore well for seven and a half hours before fading a bit.

Mystery

Mystery is a medium-dark pink base with flecks of darker pink and copper sparkle over a more frosted finish. The color payoff was mostly opaque, which could be built up but was best applied over an eyeshadow primer with a fingertip as this managed the fallout and improved the smoothness of the powder. The consistency was more powdery and chunky, so it was more prone to emphasizing skin texture. It lasted well for seven and a half hours before fading noticeably.

U Rock is a light gray with warm undertones and a matte finish. Enigma

Enigma is a medium, pinky beige with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture was somewhat powdery with a tendency to sheer out, so I would recommend using it with a primer. It had opaque color coverage as long as it was pressed on and not blended, so it was really a texture issue that caused any sheerness. It stayed on well for seven hours before fading visibly.

Gneiss Guy

Gneiss Guy is a warmer, reddish-brown base with shimmer that shifted from blue-to-teal and gave it a metallic finish. The consistency felt more loosely-pressed, so I would recommend using a pressing or patting motion–or else apply with a dampened brush or fingertip–to minimize fallout and get a smoother application of product. It had full color payoff in one layer, which lasted well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Truffles

Truffles is a light brown with soft, warm undertones and flecks of silver micro-sparkle over a matte finish. It had mostly opaque color payoff that was buildable to full coverage with a second layer. The texture was soft, somewhat powdery but not too problematic. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading visibly.

Bould Type

Bould Type is a medium, plummy taupe with neutral-to-cool undertones and a matte finish. It had rich color coverage that applied evenly to bare skin and blended out well, though it sheered out a bit due to the somewhat powdery texture (though soft). It lasted nicely for seven and a half hours before fading noticeably.

Caving In

Caving In is a light-medium brown with moderate, warm undertones and a frosted finish. The texture was a little chunkier, which resulted in a more textured appearance when applied to bare skin. I’d recommend using it with a dampened brush to help smooth it out and to amp up the coverage from semi-opaque to more opaque. It wore well for eight hours before fading a bit.

Fascinated

Fascinated is a medium-dark, rosy beige with neutral-to-cool undertones and a matte finish. It had opaque color coverage with a soft, lightly powdery texture that was blendable but wasn’t too prone to sheering out. It stayed on well for seven and a half hours before fading visibly.

For Granite

For Granite is a darker, pinky-brown with warm undertones and flecks of pink micro-sparkle over a matte finish. The texture was somewhat powdery with a fair amount of flyaway product, especially the smaller sparkles, when applied and blended out on my skin. The eyeshadow itself had more opaque coverage, while the product lasted well for seven and a half hours before fading noticeably.

Play It Coal

Play It Coal is a dark, rosy-brown with warm undertones and flecks of lighter, cooler pink sparkle over a matte finish. The texture was very powdery, which resulted in the color sheering out during application–and the payoff was more medium to begin with. It wore well for seven hours before fading noticeably.

Cult Clastic

Cult Clastic is a muted, medium-dark olive-brown with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture was slightly firmer in the pan, but it picked up well with a dry brush and yielded full color payoff. It lasted nicely for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Rock Bottom

Rock Bottom is an inky black with neutral undertones and a semi-matte finish. The consistency was soft and fairly blendable, but it was firmer and a little stiff to work with. I found it worked best built up in smaller layers and layered over other shades as I could diffuse it into other products but less so on its own to begin with. It wore well for eight hours before fading a bit.

I would recommend using an eyeshadow primer, which helped to minimize some of the issues across the board but also helped prevent some shades from looking Continue Reading… Temptalia
