ColourPop Lyric Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches – OWNSKIN

Lyric

ColourPop Lyric 5-Pan Pressed Powder Palette ($10.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a new release that includes two matte eyeshadows, two shimmer eyeshadows, and one pressed glitter. The quality was all over the place within this lil’ palette; one matte was fantastic, while one was incredibly powdery and sheer, and then one shimmer was pretty good, while the other was drier and prone to fallout. These types of shades feel common enough that there’s no reason to settle for inconsistency or so-so quality.

Melody (Lyric)

Melody (Lyric) is a very light gold with warmer, peachy undertones and a frosted finish. The texture was drier and felt more loosely-pressed with some thinness, which resulted in the shimmer blending and separating away from the base pigment, so it was harder to apply evenly and keep in place. It lasted for seven hours before fading visibly on me.

$4.50/0.05 oz. – $90.00 Per Ounce

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.

The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

Ode

Ode is a light brown with warmer undertones and a matte finish. It had opaque pigmentation with a soft, blendable texture that was lightly powdery in the pan but not prone to sheering out or having fallout during application. It stayed on nicely for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Unsung

Unsung is a darker mix of gold, smaller particle-sized glitter with a transparent base. It was nearly opaque from how full of glitter it was! The consistency was emollient, slightly wet to the touch, but it had good dispersion and adhered with only minimal migration over an eight-hour period of time.

This shade contains plastic (PET) glitter and is not intended for use around the eye area.

Cello

Cello is a medium copper with moderate, warm–almost brownish–undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. The texture was fairly soft, slightly drier to the touch, but it had enough binder in it to apply evenly to bare skin and have good adhesion, so fallout wasn’t a concern. It had rich pigmentation that stayed on nicely for eight hours before fading a bit.

Verse

Verse is a darker brown with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. It was incredibly powdery, which resulted in the color sheering out a lot during application and some fallout as well. It seemed to have more medium pigmentation initially, which quickly sheered out to sheer coverage. Even over an eyeshadow primer, it was still a sheerer shade and was hard to build up to true color and full coverage. It lasted for seven hours before fading visibly.
