ColourPop Lucky Ox Curated Shadow Palette Review & Swatches – OWNSKIN

Lucky Ox

ColourPop Lucky Ox 9-Pan Curated Shadow Palette ($15.00 for 0.45 oz.) includes nine, full-sized eyeshadows housed in a freestyle palette (so they can be rearranged with ease). All of these shades have been released previously across various palettes, so those who have a lot of ColourPop palettes, you’ll want to check for overlap. I felt like it performed in line with the brand’s eyeshadows for the last year or so; the mattes were a little more powdery, while the shimmers have a looser press to them that can sometimes feel drier and tend to perform better by pressing/patting them on.

Full Expose

Full Expose is a light-medium, yellowy beige with warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture was more velvety and substantial, so it had actually retained most of its opacity when applied to bare skin. There was some fallout if I wasn’t careful, so it was better applied earlier on if it was going to be above deeper shades. It lasted for seven and a half hours on me before fading noticeably.

$4.50/0.05 oz. – $90.00 Per Ounce

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.

The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

Pink Slip

Pink Slip is a light brown with warmer, more golden undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow had opaque pigmentation paired with a soft, blendable texture that wasn’t too powdery nor too firmly-pressed into the pan. It wore well for eight hours before fading visibly.

Fuzzy

Fuzzy is a rich, medium-dark bronze with moderate, warm undertones and a metallic finish. It had rich color coverage that applied evenly to bare skin and blended out well. The texture was lightly creamy, moderately dense but easy to work with. It stayed on nicely for eight hours before fading a bit.

Get Crackin’

Get Crackin’ is a light-medium brown with muted, warm undertones and a sparkling, matte finish. The sparkles seemed finer than usual for the brand, so they did not seem to apply noticeably, which minimized fallout opportunities, too. It had opaque color payoff that lasted well for eight hours before fading visibly.

Prix Fixe

Prix Fixe is a light-medium, golden bronze with warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. The eyeshadow had opaque color coverage that adhered evenly to bare skin, but the texture was more loosely-pressed, so I’d recommend using a lighter hand or a dampened brush to reduce the bit of fallout that occurred when applying it. This shade wore well for eight hours before showing signs of wear.

Spoiled

Spoiled is a bright, medium copper with warm, red undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque color coverage with a soft, lightly powdery texture that felt a touch thinner and drier compared to most of the brand’s matte shades. It stayed on decently for eight hours before fading a bit.

Cruisin’

Cruisin’ is a light-medium gold with warmer, more orange undertones and a metallic finish. The consistency was soft, more loosely-pressed and was best applied by pressing and patting it into place, then blending it out. It had mostly opaque color payoff that adhered evenly and lasted nicely for eight hours.

The Feels

The Feels is a deep black with subtle, neutral-to-warm undertones and with flecks of multi-colored micro-sparkle over a matte finish. The texture was finely-milled, smooth, and blendable, but it was slightly powdery and had light fallout during application/blending, particularly due to the sparkles. It had opaque color coverage that stayed on well for eight hours before fading noticeably.
