ColourPop Get That Coin Curated Shadow Palette Review & Swatches – OWNSKIN

Get That Coin

ColourPop Get That Coin 9-Pan Curated Shadow Palette ($15.00 for 0.45 oz.) contains nine, full-sized eyeshadows (effectively, like their singles) that are sold together. All of the shades have been previously released across various palettes, so if you have a lot of the brand’s past palettes, you may have these shades already. I did find that one shade was too different from the last release, so it was categorized as new. The quality was decent, but some of the mattes were more powdery and required building or had fallout issues.

Tease Me

Tease Me is a very light, peachy orange with gold sparkle over a more matte finish. The consistency was fairly powdery, though a little denser/thicker, so the payoff was semi-opaque and buildable in practice–there was just a fair amount of fallout during application and some more during wear. It lasted for seven and a half hours before fading noticeably.

$4.50/0.05 oz. – $90.00 Per Ounce

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.

The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

boron nitride, synthetic fluorphlogopite, aluminum starch octenylsuccinate, zinc stearate, dimethicone, phenoxyethanol, lauroyl lysine, caprylyl glycol, dimethiconol, ethylhexylglycerin, hexylene glycol, tin oxide, iron oxides (ci 77491, ci 77492, ci 77499), mica (ci 77019), titanium dioxide (ci 77891).

Butter Cake

Butter Cake is a light-medium gold with moderate, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It felt slightly drier and more loosely-pressed, so I’d recommend patting/pressing it into place to avoid fallout. It had rich color payoff that adhered well for eight hours before showing signs of wear.

Au Naturale

Au Naturale is a light brown with strong, warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture was somewhat powdery, though blendable and wasn’t prone to sheering out when applied to bare skin, but you’ll want to take care to avoid fallout. It had opaque coverage that wore well for eight hours before fading visibly.

Cahuenga

Cahuenga is a deep, coppery brown with strong, warm red undertones and a smooth, lightly metallic sheen. It was intensely pigmented with a smooth, moderately dense texture that was lightly creamy but not overly firm, so it picked up well with a dry brush. It lasted well for eight hours before fading a bit.

Duh

Duh has a translucent base and a moderate amount of gold, peach, and iridescent glitter in different sizes suspended in it. The texture was smooth, emollient, and spread well across my skin, as the glitter evenly distributed and adhered fairly well. This shade includes plastic (PET) glitter and is not intended for use around the immediate eye area. It lasted for eight hours with some migration as a cheek highlighter.

*not intended for use in the immediate eye area. polyethylene terephthalate, polymethyl methacrylate, dimethicone, polyurethane 33, lauroyl lysine, magnesium myristate, chlorphenesin, dehydroacetic acid, aluminum , iron oxides (ci 77491), iron oxides (ci 77492), red 7 (ci 15850), yellow 5 (ci 19140).

NOTICE: All products categorized under “Glitter” contain Polyethylene Terephthalate, also known as plastic or PET glitter, and it is typically cosmetic grade glitter. Inclusion of this ingredient sometimes carries a warning (in the US) that the product is “not intended for use in the immediate eye area.” This ingredient has not been approved for usage on the eyes per the FDA. In recent years, some brands are including this product in their eyeshadows without any warning or callout and effectively marketing them as eyeshadows or including a symbol of an “eye” which suggests eye usage. Via CosIng for EU, PET glitter is permitted without any restrictions or limitations. For an in-depth look at whether cosmetic grade glitter is safe, please view this post.

Gold Star (Get That Coin)

Gold Star (Get That Coin) is a rich, molten gold with strong, warm undertones and a metallic finish. The eyeshadow had rich pigmentation with a smooth, lightly creamy consistency that wasn’t too firmly nor too softly pressed into the pan. It applied evenly and wore well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Complicated

Complicated is a light-medium brown with strong, warm orange undertones and flecks of gold micro-sparkle through its more matte finish. The consistency was fairly powdery, which resulted in some fallout and a tendency for the product to sheer out during application, so while it had opaque pigmentation, I had to build it back up in practice. It lasted nicely for eight hours before fading but had light fallout from the sparkles.

GNO

GNO is a medium-dark orange-copper with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had opaque pigmentation with a soft, blendable texture that was lightly powdery but not prone to fallout or sheering out too readily. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading visibly.

HWY 1

HWY 1 is a medium-dark, reddish-brown with warm undertones and flecks of gold micro-sparkle over a matte base. The texture was somewhat powdery with the gold flecks dispersing too readily, so there was some fallout during application and difficulty getting a precise laydown of product once blending occurred. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation that wore well for eight hours but there was some fallout from the sparkle.
