Best & Worst of Chanel Rouge Allure Laques (2020) – OWNSKIN

Here’s your review recap of all 20 shades of the recently-released Chanel Rouge Allure Laque ($40.00 for 0.18 fl. oz.), which is a liquid lipstick formula that has a natural-to-satin finish (rather than a traditional full-on, matte finish). They start off more emollient, almost like a liquid balm, but develop into a lightly tackier, thinner consistency that adheres better (doesn’t slide around) but doesn’t feel as thick or as tacky as some other competitor formulas.

They are not as pigmented as marketed, though many shades were buildable in coverage with a second layer (which was still comfortable to wear), but the real “downside” and why so many shades rated lower than one might have expected was simply that the wear claim was 12 hours… and they were more apt to last between five and six hours with a few longer than that. They were longer-wearing, in general, but by no means ultra long-wearing as marketed!

What I liked the most about the formula was how comfortable and how hydrating it was to wear, though; they felt almost weightless over time and my lips felt and looked better for wearing them back-to-back.
