I love a vanity topped with dozens of beautiful fragrance bottles as much as the next person—actually, probably a lot more—but what if you could just own one product that creates a million different fragrance combinations—and get them on demand? Well, ta-da! That’s exactly what a new patent-pending device called NINU does.
Think about when you’re packing for a vacation and you want to bring multiple fragrances, but 1) you don’t want to risk the bottles breaking in your luggage, and 2) you don’t have room. NINU solves the problem—it’s reinventing fragrance as we know it. The sleek, rose gold cylinder houses three refillable glass vials, each containing a different perfume—there’s also a black version designed “for him,” but I know many women who would prefer the black as well. Via a corresponding app, the user can communicate with an “AI perfume master” named Pierre to determine which scent they’re in the mood for at any given time, and then the device will create the combination using the three base scents.
“Embark on a perfume fusion journey guided by the AI perfume master Pierre,” says NINU founder Marko Matijević. “He will take care of your every wish with just a few simple taps on your phone. You have full control over your scent. Too strong for work? Tone it down. Feeling excited? Add an exotic note. And exactly when you start running out, he will notify you to restock. With more than a million different fragrances to choose from, you will always find something for you.”
Matijević says the patent-pending innovation was named after one of history’s first female “chemists,” if you will. “Once upon a time, in an era of stone palaces and spicy sand, there lived two women. Today, the world would call them scientists or chemists, but back then, they were known by other names. They were Tapputi and Ninu, and their art was combining scents into perfumes to serve the royals of Mesopotamia. Back then, perfume oils were highly valued for medicinal and well-being purposes, known to cure headaches and lift one’s mood.”
Ultimately, that’s Matijević’s goal: enabling users to tailor their perfume to match their every mood (and occasion). “The most important are the fragrances themselves. Only the best, 100-percent vegan, sustainably sourced ingredients were picked, with the wholesome procedure from beginning to end designed in France, dedicated to quality and a high percentage of perfume oils. This is why perfumes evolve beautifully on your skin,” he explains. “They are also phthalate-, paraben- and sulphate-free, so you can be care-free and confident. Not to mention that they are formulated to seamlessly fuse and enhance each other to make you feel fresh and sexy all day long.”
In addition to sustainably sourced ingredients, the packaging also cuts down on waste. “NINU is earth-friendly due to using natural ink in packaging cartons, and having a cartridge refill system and less packaging to scale down the plastic consumption,” says Matijević. “To go the extra mile, instruction leaflets are replaced with a scannable QR code. NINU is on a mission to make the perfume industry greener and more user-friendly.”
What could be really interesting, too, is if the patent-pending technology were licensed to some of the big fragrance brands and we could utilize this format for some of There’s no specific launch date set, but Matijević promises the technology is “coming soon,” so stay tuned to NewBeauty.com for updates.
