Beauty – 10 Things You Should Know About It – OWNSKIN

Beauty, we all chase it, we all want it, we all need it. But what is beauty? How do we achieve it and, most of all, how do we keep it? According to the definition from Merriam-Webster, beauty is the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit. What we notice here is how it refers to beauty from a psychological point of view. Beauty is in the mind. I know, a lot of us could argue on that but that is where beauty starts.

According to Wikipedia, beauty is the ascription of a property or characteristic to an animal, idea, object, person or place that provides a perceptual experience of pleasure or satisfaction. Beauty is studied as part of aesthetics, culture, social psychology, philosophy and sociology. An “ideal beauty” is an entity which is admired, or possesses features widely attributed to beauty in a particular culture, for perfection. Ugliness is the opposite of beauty. In nowadays, beauty is studied and tagged mostly on aesthetics. What makes us beautiful? Our skin care, our hair care? The number of beauty products we use? We strive for perfection but only physically. But it`s not only about that. A beautiful body comes with a beautiful mind.

2. Beauty products

Choose wisely! In nowadays market, solutions seem to be endless. And if you look at what marketing does, all of them seem to work. Somehow true. Maybe all of them work but not necessarily for you. Just because a skin care treatment worked for your friend, doesn`t mean it will work for you. You go online and read about this amazing hair care treatment. You say to yourself this will make my hair look amazing. Well, it might or it could make it worse. Do your research first. Check on what type of skin it worked on or what kind of hair.

Don`t overdo it. Don`t compare yourself to anyone else. You are unique! Treat yourself accordingly. Put on the makeup that makes you feel beautiful. Lipstick, eyeliner, eyelashes (fake or not), it all plays a role in beauty, When used with style. If it feels right to you, it probably is. Wear what defines you.

3. Beautiful vs. Hot

Somewhere in between generations, we got confused. Today, hot is more desirable than beautiful. To make things worse, we define beautiful by being hot. We couldn’t be more wrong. Beauty holds power and prestige. Girls, be powerfull, be prestigious! Have passion and don`t be afraid to show your real face. It will define you more than a look could ever do. You won’t have to fight for attention anymore. Know how to talk and when to talk. There is nothing more intriguing than a woman with a bit of mystery. Add some confidence to that and you have the recipe for real beauty. When you have all of the above, looks will come naturally. You will know exactly how to dress, what beauty products to use and what makeup to put on.

4. The first impression – beauty is also in the looks

The first impression is always the right one, they say. I always thought it to be true. Style and class are always a winner when it comes to it. The first thing we see in a person is the physical aspect. It’s the factor that creates the biggest impact on a first met situation. Dress with style and class for every situation. And wear it with pride. The way you wear your hair, the makeup you use, the clothes you wear, the way you walk. All of these are written on the tag put on you by someone who just met you. Chose the words written on that tag yourself.

5. Beauty is not perfect

Don`t strive for perfection because beautiful is anything but perfect. Flaws and mistakes make us who we are. A careless lock of hair, no makeup when you are at home, a few pounds over your ideal weight plan. These don’t make you ugly. They make you and that is the beauty of it.

6. It’s all about the smile

One of the most beautiful things in a woman is her smile. Men would disagree here and probably say boobs or ass. But its understandable, men are primitive beings with primitive needs. Fashion trends may come and go, but like your favorite little black dress beautiful smiles are timeless. Also smiling releases endorphins, and those are always welcomed.

7. Happiness is the beauty in life

Also is the beauty in you. It is scientifically proven that being happy results in better skin, also makes us live longer. Happiness is the best antidote for stress and anxiety. Happiness makes you resilient. It helps you recover from stress. An experiment revealed that immune system activity in a person fluctuates depending on their happiness. Since beauty is in health, be happy!

8. Don’t forget to have some rest

They call it beauty sleep for a reason! If you don’t feel good, you won’t look good, so take care of yourself. Don’t deprive yourself of rest. Do your workouts, stay healthy but remember to give your body time to recover. Getting enough sleep is essential for helping a person maintain optimal health and well-being. When it comes to health, sleep is as vital as regular exercise and eating a balanced diet.

9. Careful with what you put in you. Food I mean

A healthy diet is essential for good health and nutrition. We are down to our childhood horror: eat your vegetables! Well, our parents were right, people with diets rich in vegetables and fruit have a significantly lower risk of obesity, heart disease, stroke, diabetes and certain types of cancer. Also, they are important sources of vitamins, minerals, dietary fiber, plant protein, and antioxidants. That can`t hurt, right? Also, eat less fat, limit the intake of sugars and reduce salt.

10. Self-affirmation – beauty is you

Take a five-minute break and go to the bathroom. Take a good look at yourself and remember where you came from, the struggles you’ve faced up to that moment. Remind yourself that if those tests didn’t break you, nothing will. Don’t let yourself pulled under by what others say. The only affirmation you need is your own.
